What is an eBook?
‘eBook’ is a short name for ‘electronic book’. eBooks
are books that available in digital format that offers
the convenience, access, and unique capabilities of the
digital realm.
What are the advantages of eBooks?
• eBooks are ordered online and delivered electronically
to your computer. No shipment required and save your
time waiting.
• eBooks are compact, convenient, and portable.
• eBooks empower you with control over the look and
feel of your eBook with powerful features such as digital
notes, dynamic
display settings, and search.
• eBook is usually cheaper than paper book.
• eBooks are infinitely more portable than paper books
when carried with you on a PDA.
• eBook is environmental friendly. No paper is needed.
No tree is chopped.
How do I order an eBook?
1. First, a user must complete the registration form.
During registration, a user is required to give his/her
contact information (such as name and e-mail address).
Then, the Webmaster will provide unique identifiers
(such as, email and password) which are required to
access the member account area.
2. Make sure you have the appropriate reader software
installed on your computer. Then, just follow the fast
and easy ordering process.
• Login using your e-mail and password.
• Look for the eBook(s) you want, and add them to your
Shopping Cart.
• When you have all the eBook(s) you want in ‘Mycart
Detail’, click ‘Order’ and proceed through the ‘Online
Payment’ process.
• After the transaction has been approved, you will
be redirected to a ‘Download Section Page’ to download
your eBook.
• Download your eBook(s) directly from Download Section
Page. Take care not to close this page until you’ve
downloaded all your eBooks.
What format is the eBook?
All our eBooks are in a PDF format that can be read
using the Adobe Acrobat Reader which is compatible to
be used either by personal computers, Apple computers,
as well as Palm PDAs. Page navigation, multiple viewing
options, bookmarks, and search features are included.
Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) is the open de
facto standard for electronic distribution worldwide.
Where can I get the eBook Reader?
Adobe Acrobat Reader is a requirement for viewing PDF
files, and can be downloaded from Adobe’s website for
your operating system.
Are the eBooks encrypted?
If the eBook is not encrypted, you can buy it and then
e-mail it to someone else. But generally, no.
Can I return an eBook?
Due to the nature of electronic products, once an eBook
has been purchased, we cannot issue a refund.
Can I print and copy my eBook(s)?
You are entitled to print off one copy of the eBook(s)
for YOUR OWN USE ONLY. The PDF file may also be saved
to disk for future use. However, no part of this publication
may be reproduced, or transmitted in any form or by
any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording
or otherwise to other party(ies), without prior permission
of Universiti Utara Malaysia Press.
How to submit your manuscript/work?
1. Send an email to our editor (penerbit@uum.edu.my)
with your manuscript as attachment, preferably in Microsoft
Word.
2. Please include the following information in your
email.
• synopsis of your manuscript
• author’s biography and picture
• website URL (if available)
• indicate if you have published your manuscript before,
or edited by any editor.
