About UUM Press
The Universiti Utara Malaysia Press (UUM
Press), or commonly known as Penerbit UUM started off in 1984
as a small bureau operations under the Library Department. Over
time it has seen drastic changes in its structure and administration.
On 12 January 2003, the small bureau was transformed into a
department, called the Publications and Media Technology Department,
following approval from the University’s Executive Council (MEU).
In early 2006, it underwent further changes when it was merged
with the Research and Consultancy Centre to form yet another
new department, which is currently known as the Innovation and
Research Department.
Despite the merger exercise, the UUM Press has not lost its
prominent role as a publication platform of academic works;
rather its function is enhanced and is therefore more committed
in providing commendable publication services to the campus’s
community.
Currently, it consists of five operational
units, namely:
Administration Unit
Editorial Unit
Graphic Unit
Production Unit
Marketing Unit
Having MS ISO 9001 certification, the UUM Press is proud to
say that it fully handles publications of any manuscripts in-house.
It is also proud to claim that it is able to publish a scholarly
book within 10 months after receiving the original manuscript
from any author.*
* Under normal circumstances that involve
editing, proofing, designing and printing, provided that the
manuscript has met the necessary requirements set.
